It is with sadness that we have to announce the death of Geoff Richards from pneumonia. Though Geoff only played 3 games for the First Team he was a good supporter of the Association attending all our AGMs up until illness prevented him a a couple of years ago. Geoff scored on his League debut v Luton in December 1946, at the time he was the youngest player ever to score in a league match for the Albion, that mantle fell to Alec Jackson in 1954. After he left the Albion in 1952 he played the remainder of his career in non league football with Bilston, Stafford, Hednesford, Nuneaton, Atherstone before Managing Hednesford in 1962 for 2 seasons.
Our thoughts are with his friends and family in particular Diane his daughter who had been by his side through his recent ill health.
