It is with deep sadness that we have to report the death of Wilf Carter earlier today (Sunday) after a battle against cancer at the age of 79. Wilf was born in Wednesbury and joined the Albion as an amateur in April 1949 and 2 years later became a professional making his debut against Fulham in September 1951. He made 61 appearances in total scoring 12 goals, he also played 143 Central League scoring 63 goals. In May 1957 he moved to Plymouth Argyle. He retired in May 1970 having also played for Exeter & Bath City. After his retirement he continued to live in the Bath area but was a regular attendee at our AGM and always made an additional trip to see the Albion play a Premiership game.

Our sincere condolences go to his wife Margaret and to his son, daughters and many grandchildren.

The Funeral details will be posted on the website in due course.

Rest in Peace.
