It is with great sadness we announce the death today (10th May) of Ken Hodgkisson at the age of 85. Ken had just become the oldest surviving former player on the passing of Frank Hodgetts. Ken joined the Albion in 1949 and played 21 times scoring 4 goals. He left in 1955 for Walsall where his spent just over 10 years. He came back to the Hawthorns in 1975 as part of the coaching team, becoming youth team manager in 1981.
Ken loved his football attending as many matches as he could with his daughter either in the Stand or more recently in the Regis Suite. His knowledge of football was second to none, his memories from games over the years was superb, he was a font of all knowledge.
Ken has stayed true to his roots born West Bromwich and has stayed locally all his life. A great supporter of the Association, never missed an AGM, a very kind family man who took pride in looking after his disabled daughter Allison.
Our sincere condolences go to his wife Beryl, daughters Debbie, Melanie & Allison grandchildren Amber, Nicola, Heidi.
Friday 1st June 3pm at St Peter’s Church, Whitehall Rd, Greets Green, West Bromwich, B70 0HF and/or 4pm Sandwell Crematorium, Newton Rd, West Bromwich, B71 3SX. Followed with refreshments with the family at The Hawthorns, East Stand, West Bromwich, B71 4LF.
