The Former Players Association regret to announce the death of former player Maurice Setters who sadly passed away today at the age of 84 years.
Maurice who was born in December 1936, was one of the oldest surviving former Albion players and had a long and distinguished career which started at local club Exeter City in 1952. He was snapped up by Albion boss Vic Buckingham in January 1955, making his first team debut against Huddersfield Town at Leeds Road. Maurice made 132 first team appearances for ‘Throstles’ scoring 10 goals before finally leaving the Hawthorns to join Manchester United in January 1960, where he enjoyed a glittering career with the ‘Busby Babes’ before moving on to Stoke City, Coventry City and Charlton Athletic, playing his last games at The Valley, before moving into management.

The Association sends condolences to his family at this sad time. RIP Maurice.
