It is with great sadness that we announce the death of one of our youngest debutantes Mickey Lewis. Mick was diagnosed only recently with lung cancer and passed away on Friday 5th March at the tender age of 56.

Mickey was a Birmingham boy and made his debut at the age of 16 in 1981, a midfielder he went onto make 33 appearances before moving onto Derby County. He played over 350 times for Oxford United and also had a spell as Caretaker Manager. Tenacious midfielder whose “curly” hair became his trademark.

We were able to present his “debut cap” at the London Supporters Branch and he attended a couple of games when he did the Q&A before the Derby game in 2017 and then followed up by bringing his young son and wife to a game in the Regis Suite, a photo of the 3 of them can be seen in the tribute montage to him.

Our sincere condolences go to his wife Suzanne, son Zac, his family and friends. Taken so young. RIP Mickey.
