Should it be June or September for the Former Players Golf Day, well Covid restrictions once again prevailed, so the decision was made, 6th September it would be and what a day to choose!
With temperatures in the high twenties, 21 teams participated, including 3 new entrants Partridge Electricals, Wednesfield Baggies & The Haylofters, thanks to Albion supporters Ian Partridge, Phil Bateman & Keith Sheldon respectively for their support.
Our sponsors showed their generosity once more and our thanks should go to Neil Bettridge (Amros Golf Promotions), Tony Sammon (Solihull Roofing) and our main sponsor Con Cunningham (CPC Civils Ltd).
The course played well, the Walsall hospitality was again a major factor in making sure the day was enjoyable and the continued support from former golf pro Richard Lambert guaranteed the day went smoothly.
This was our 19th consecutive golf day at Walsall but it was familiar faces at the top of the leaderboard but more on that. Brendon Batson was on hand to present the prizes and welcome the guests to Walsall Golf Club, unfortunately a couple of regular faces were missing, Bobby Hope due to illness and Bomber Brown to, would you believe, Covid, his quarantine finished the following day and Ally Robertson to work commitments.
We welcomed the following members of the Association,
Don Goodman, Ray Wilson, Gary Owen, Mark Grew, Paul Raven, Joe Mayo, Stewart Phillips, Mick Fudge, John Kaye, Bruce Collard, David Butler, Kevin Kent, Don Goodman, Paul Raven, Geoff Snape, Norman Westbury and 2 new faces making their debut Wayne Hughes and Graham Harbey.
