On such a day….where do you start!
Every visit to the ‘Shrine’ is an experience, that at times is hard to describe.
Yesterday catching up with Fradge and the Media boys, and of course Andy Ryder, Mick, Hannah and the girls was a terrific start to my day, with next up a visit to the dressing room to catch up with Jacko and the team before making my way over to the Richardson Suite for a meet and greet with six of the very best, the lovely Louise Howell, my friend for many years of course, Andy Hunt, the star of the day, Bernie McNally, Ally Robertson, Carl Heggs all in the Richardson Suite, and Super Bob in the Millichip Suite. It was literally the start of another magical day in the life! …In a ‘Throstles’ life to be exact! It also helped to keep my ‘step’ counter ticking over.
It was a rather special day for Wembley hero Andy, a Thurrock boy like myself of course, who once again visited us from his home in Holland and finally had his Albion cap presented, at half time in front of 26,000 adoring ‘Baggies’ fans, with the cap presented by ‘who else’ but his great mate and scoring partner Bob Taylor, which alone was a bit special for everyone in the stadium.
In the Regis Suite Chairman Ray Wilson, was one of three former players ‘on duty’ Derek Monaghan, Dave Butler and Andy Johnson joining Geoff Snape, Norman Westbury and myself and lovely to catch up with the lovely Jill Pearson in the matchday office at half time for a heartfelt chat about out great mate Craig Shakespeare who passed away recently.
Finally, I hope you all bought your matchday programme, worth every penny, oozing history and colour, including an interview with former club captain, Jono Greening, taliking about the Great Escape season which is this seasons history feature. Anyone who was in the stadium on that magical day, will understand how very importsnt it was in the history of our great club.
